Candlelight vigil to support Las Vegas shooting victims

Attendees say the vigil is about keeping America strong

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) - Their numbers were few, but their message was strong..."This is about the people! This is about getting the heart of America back!" About a dozen people holding candles stood on the south steps of the Utah State Capitol tonight to offer support the victims of the Las Vegas shooting last week.

58 people were killed and more than 500 injured at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, last Sunday during a performance by country music artist Jason Aldean.  Gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel on the concert goers gathered across the street. Police say Paddock killed himself when police stormed his hotel room.

Tonight's vigil was also in support of Erick Silva, a security guard stationed on the front row of the concert who helped dozens get to safety before he was shot and killed.
