Bulk of Sandy City's Snowplows Destroyed in Fire

SANDY, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- A majority of Sandy City's snowplows were destroyed in a fire Thursday night.

Battalion Chief Eric Larson with Sandy City Fire Department said the fire started around 11:30 p.m. at the Sandy City Public Works building at 8875 South 700 West.

"We lost the bulk of our plow trucks...this is a major lost to the city," Batt. Chief Larson said.

The Sandy City Public Works building holds the fleets responsible for snow removal, street sweeping, and bulk waste removal.

Batt. Larson said they are still investigating the cause, but the fire caused millions of dollars of damage.

Fire crews from all over the valley responded to fight the blaze.
