A Mineral Soak & Taste of The Wild West

Good4Utah Road Tour stops in Ririe, ID for hot springs, down home dinner theater

RIRIE, Idaho (ABC4 Utah) - Are you looking for break from the hustle and bustle of the Wasatch Front? Our winter road is highlighting stops in Yellowstone Teton Territory and one of the coolest things to do in the area is actually pretty hot! The hot pools at Heise Hot Springs have been around since 1898 and visitors say a soak is as relaxing as it gets.

"It''s got a high mineral content. I've been in hot tubs around the world with the Marine Corps and the airlines, and you can't beat this," Mike Siepert of St. Anthony said.

Siepert makes a 40 mile trip several times a week for what he calls "healing waters."

Sandra Lee has worked at the hot springs for 23 years and says she loves the hidden gem and is proud that the springs are recognized as one of the top ten mineral hot springs with dissolved solids.

"It's very soothing and relaxing. We have a bunch of people come for therapy after they've had surgeries or injuries, we've got lots of people that come for that," Lee said.

Heise Hot Springs is just down the road from the Mountain River Ranch, which gives folks a taste of the west.

"It's fabulous. I love the lights, the sleigh ride, it's really fun," Ann Delaney, a ranch visitor said.

The horses pull you through the snow to an incredible barn for dinner and entertainment.

"It's a family business and my father-in-law started this 31 years ago. We do this because every night we get to put smiles on people's faces, and it's a different experience for everybody, but it's fun for us," Mike Anglesey, operator of Mountain River Ranch, said.

The ranch hosts seasonal shows with a down home dinner theater that has a holiday theme in the winter and a wild west shoot out in the summer. Anglesey is originally from Utah and says everyone loves visitors from the Wasatch Front.

"We love our Utah friends in, our folks here locally when they have guests come into town they want to give them a true Idaho Old West experience and they bring them up here, and yeah, we just have a good time," Mike Anglesey, operator of Mountain River Ranch, said.
