3 men behind bars after alleged kidnapping in Midvale

MIDVALE (News4Utah)- Police in Midvale are investigating an alleged kidnapping that occurred over the weekend.

Officers say Saturday night they responded to an apartment complex in Midvale near 19 West Marquette Drive on reports of a security camera that had been stolen. They victim told them he believed the suspects lived upstairs. Officers say when they went up to question the suspects nobody was home.

"Later in the evening, the victim spotted the suspects outside of their apartment, having a smoke.  Because of a past friendly relationship, the victim went to speak with the suspects, hoping to straighten the situation," Lt. Brian Lohrke with Unified Police said.

When the victim went inside their apartment, Lt. Lohrke said one of three men grabbed him and held him at knifepoint.

"The suspects demanded the victim drop the theft case or else he would be killed," Lt. Lohrke said.

At one point in the evening Lt. Lohrke said the three men forced the victim into a 2008 Cadillac CTS. He says the victim was able to jump from the moving vehicle and call police.

The next morning officers arrested the three suspects. They have been identified as Glibert Garcia,44, Jack Ables,61, and Mitchel Decora,26. They were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Kidnapping, Theft, and Threats.
