2 Arrested After Christmas Eve Homicide

12/25/2016 - WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) After an altercation took place in the Shopko parking lot, one was left dead and two with serious injuries. West Valley Police have now arrested and charged two suspects.

At approximately 4:00 am on Saturday, West Valley City Police were dispatched to the parking lot of the Shopko store at 4850 W 3500 S.

People attending a party nearby had gone to the parking lot of the Shopko store, meeting additional people and an altercation ensued. During the altercation, shots were fired and three people were hit.

34 year old Gary Hart from West Valley City was killed, one adult male suffered serious injuries and another adult male suffered a minor injury.

West Valley City Police investigators were able to quickly identify two suspects in the case. Multiple
officers were called out to assist in locating them. Two male suspects were taken into custody without incident.

25-year-old Daniel Diaz has been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of discharging a firearm with injury. 

A 17 year old juvenile male has also been booked into detention
