SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 UTAH) -- A dream come true, for 14-year-old Rylee Bess from Perry, Utah.
She's living with cystic fibrosis, an inherited life threatening disorder that damages the lungs and digestive system. . On Friday, she got to forget about how sick she is.
Her wish is to be a fashion model in New York. To prep her for that moment, Macy's and Make a Wish Utah gave her a makeover.
Rylee, "It's hard, but I don't tell a lot of people I have it."
Macys and Make A Wish Utah put her in the spotlight, putting on full make up and dressing her from head to toe.
To complete the look, they gave her a photo shoot.
Besides modeling, the 9th grader wants to learn about photography.
Rylee, "I really love taking pictures."
Bart Bess, father, "I'm excited. she's been excited for this she doesn't like things to be about her but I know she loves it too. Excited to watch her smile go around."
Riley has treatment morning and night. Her parents have seen their daughter live through the struggles.
So it's extra special to see her being pampered.
Tasha Bess, Mother, "This disease has been a trial for her but she's also been a trooper through it. Rylee has to do daily treatments everyday and so for something special for her means a lot to our family."
Today was a celebration of her true wish to be granted with a trip to New York City to be a photographer and model for a day. They're still working on scheduling that trip for the future.
Rylee's special day falls on Macy's annual National Believe Day. The retailer is inviting anyone of all ages to write a letter to Santa on-line or in person at any store. For every letter received through Christmas eve, Macy's will donate a dollar to make a wish.
