SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) - Week three of the 2018 legislative session is in the books.
As we approach the half way point, Speaker of the House Greg Hughes sits down for an interview to discuss the progress his final session.
Some of his top priorities include Operation Rio Grande and the opioid crisis.
"The homeless issue has been embraced by the legislature, House, Senate and our executive branch, the governor as a statewide issue. And I think that's unique. And I'm very proud of my colleagues for seeing it that way," Hughes said. "I do believe it will be prioritized and the state will be able to pay it's portion of what's overall a 67 million dollar budget."
Hughes also discusses separation of powers, an inland port and the repeal of the death penalty.
