Keeping your feet healthy is a simple way to help maintain your overall health. Foot injuries and other problems can disrupt your daily life. The symptoms you experience can even be a sign of a more serious health problem. There are steps you can take to improve your foot health, including knowing when to see a podiatrist. 

Tips for healthy feet
   - Good hygiene: Thoroughly clean feet with soap and water and dry feet well
   - Examine your own feet: Look for signs of infection, discoloration, swelling, wounds that won’t heal properly
   - Wear shoes that fit properly: Shoes that are too tight can cause a variety of problems
   - Cut toenails properly: Cut nails straight across and avoid cutting nails too short or too close to the skin
   - Exercise to get the blood flowing
   - Avoid walking around barefoot
   - Know when to see a doctor

What is a podiatrist?
A podiatrist is a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the foot and ankle. Podiatrists understand the biomechanics of the feet, especially how that relates to gait, balance, and posture.
