3 dead after Tooele County crash

- STANSBURY PARK (ABC 4 UTAH) - State Route 36 is now open after 3 people died in a three car accident in Stansbury Park.
It was an accident with a horrific outcome. Troopers say a van with seven people in it was traveling from a church to Salt Lake City. The crash occurred at about 3:17 p.m.
"A van attempted to make a lane change to the left and clipped the front end of the vehicle," said Trooper Evan Kirby of the Utah Highway Patrol.
The driver lost control of the van. It then began to spin onto the southbound lanes where it was hit on its side by a red Subaru. The people in that car, a driver and a passenger, died.
"In the van there was 5 juveniles between the ages of 13-17 and four of the juveniles were ejected," said Kirby.
Troopers are not sure if everyone was wearing seat belts or if the belts malfunctioned. One teen was found some 30 feet away from the accident.
An adult in the front passenger seat of the van also died.
"We had a lot of help from the community because we had the children ejected. A lot of help from the community in keeping them comfortable while we worked," said Kirby. Helicopters flew in to take the 4 ejected teens to area hospitals where they are in critical condition.
A total of 6 people were taken to valley area hospitals from this accident and their conditions range from fair to critical.
Alcohol or drugs do not seem to be a factor in the accident.
