Refreshing Summer Drinks

Check out these fresh and delicious non-alcoholic summer beverages for dinners, garden parties, or even a late night drink with your sweetheart!
FRESH BLUEBERRY LEMONADE

INGREDIENTS:

3/4 cup fresh lemon juice

3/4 cup simple syrup

1 cup fresh blueberries

1 cup hot water

3 cups cold water

Ice

DIRECTIONS:
  1. In a blender, blend together the lemon juice, sugar, blueberries, and hot water until the berries are pureed and the sugar is dissolved. Pour into pitcher. Pour over a fine-mesh strainer if you prefer a pulp-free lemonade.
  2. Add cold water
  3. Chill for at least an hour.
  4.  Serve over ice.

SPARKLING WATERMELON LIMEADE

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup water
1 c. simple syrup
1 cup ice
6 cups diced watermelon, pureed and strained {should yield 3 1/2 cups watermelon juice}
2/3 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
2 cups sparkling water {such as Perrier or S.Pellegrino}
ice
extra watermelon pieces or lime wedges for garnish, if desired

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a small saucepan, bring water and sugar to boil until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in ice to cool quickly.
  2. Pour simple syrup into pitcher with watermelon juice, lime juice and sparkling water. Stir and serve over ice with watermelon and lime wedges.
  3. Recipe note: Depending on how sweet your watermelon is, you may need to add more or less simple syrup as required.

SHIRLEY TEMPLE

INGREDIENTS:

1 c. fresh lime juice (from about 6 to 7 limes)

1/2 cup simple syrup (see link to recipe, above)

12 ounces seltzer water

Dash of grenadine syrup

Cherry, for garnish

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a pitcher or a measuring cup with a spout, combine the lime juice and simple syrup.
  2. Fill four glasses with ice. Divide the lime juice-simple syrup mixture between the glasses (about 3 ounces each), and fill the rest of the glass with seltzer (about 3 ounces). Stir with a swizzle stick or a long spoon and garnish with a lime wedge, if desired.



LIME RICKEY

INGREDIENTS:

12 ounces seltzer water

Lime wedges, for garnish
