Free acts will continue throughout the week with the Salt Lake Pops Orchestra and Jamestown Sound, Nathan Osmond, Clogging Grandmas, Hired Guns, a car show, “Scales and Tales” reptile show, barnyard racers, two nights of demolition derby and much more.
For the second consecutive year, the Fair will host the talent competition, “Salt Lake County Star Search.” This year it is Friday, August 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. Each contestant will be given a two-minute time slot to perform. Prizes and cash will be awarded to the top three winners in the adult, youth and children categories. The registration cost is $10.
The Fair offers many fun contest, demonstrations, and hands-on educational activities for all ages. Sign ups for the Redhead, Moustache and Twin Contest take place 30 minutes prior to the contests. Rules and application deadlines for the Dutch oven cook-off, photography, quilting, food (i.e. Red Yeast, Wilton), and Mayor McAdams’ Apple Pie contest can be found online at www.saltlakecountyfair.com.
Agriculture, floriculture, ceramics, creative arts, scrapbooking, photography, and home arts competitive exhibits will fill the indoor arena.

Read and Ride Program
The Salt Lake County Fair will participate in the annual “Read and Ride” educational-base program to encourage reading.
Sponsored by the Midway West Carnival, children ages 2-12 may submit three book reports to the Salt Lake County Library Booth #105 to receive three complimentary carnival rides.
Carnival pre-sale tickets are now on sale at the Fair office for $18, regularly $25.
