Movie screening celebrates activist released from prison

-
SALT LAKE CITY, (ABC 4 News ) - The release of a climate activist from prison brought dozens of supporters to view a movie screening about his life on Monday.

"Bidder 70" is a documentary about Tim DeChristopher's protest in 2008. DeChristopher disrupted an oil and gas lease auction with no intent to ever drill on the land or pay $1.7 million for it.

DeChristopher was convicted of making phony bids and sentenced in 2011. He recently finished serving two years in various prisons and a halfway house.

"Bidder 70" was screened at Tower Theater to celebrate DeChristopher's release from prison and it coincided with Earth Day. For more information about the movie, click here.
