There are a million things to think about before putting your house on the market. David Herbon from Herbon Homes gives us an inside look at what peaks potential buyers' interest.

We all know we're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but most people judge a house by the outside. First things first, take a picture of your whole house from the curb. This will let you see the bigger picture and help you figure out where your curb appeal is lacking.

One of the most important things about selling your home is to continuously keep it clean and neat. Your home should smell clean! Smells like cookies, potpourri, or cinnamon could turn off potential buyers. What smells are you trying to hide?

Take pets out of the home while it is being shown, and be sure to dress up rooms for their function. If a room is meant to be a bedroom, make it clear that it is a bedroom!

And most importantly, depersonalize and declutter your space. Buyers are trying to envision themselves in this home. Make it easy for them to make the decision by showing a neutral home that will appeal to anyone.
