By age 60, approximately 70% of women and 40% of men can suffer from the symptoms of vein disease, including varicose veins, spider veins, ankle swelling, venous ulcers, and more.

Vein disease can happen to anyone, at any age. You can be a young man in his 20s or an older woman in her 70s. Vein disease is not gender biased and treatment options are the same for everyone.

Varicose veins are enlarged, weakened, dilated veins that can be visible as swollen, bulging, blue-green veins. These damaged veins no longer carry blood from the legs back up to the heart effectively, so venous hypertension causes blood and pressure in the legs to build up in your legs. On the other hand, spider veins, are small, web-like, abnormally dilated blood vessels in the skin that can be red, blue or green. Spider veins usually appear on the legs, but can also occur on the face, chest, arms and back.

Schedule a visit at the Vein Institute of Utah to determine if you do have vein disease and to have an ultrasound test to find the areas that are damaged within your legs, then to discuss your choice of treatments.

The Vein Institute of Utah is offering free vein screenings Thursday, August 7th, 10am – 5pm.
