Prepare Your Place

Winter is quickly approaching, and you might be ready…but is your home? Budget Plumbing’s Michael Heil spoke with the hosts on Monday about the things you can do to get your home ready for winter. Stress and disaster can be avoided by preparing your home early for the cold.

Top Winter Maintenance Tasks:

- Make sure carbon monoxide detectors are working by testing them regularly. New equipment is available every 3-5 years.

- Detach the garden hose and install a foam cover over the top to keep the faucet warm during the cold months.

- Apply heat tape to exposed pipes before the freezing weather approaches.

- During spring and fall (every 6 months) conduct a furnace check to make sure all air flow areas are clear.
