Be careful of the digital footprints you are leaving

For Tech Time Tuesday, Christopher talked to us about digital footprints. A footprint indicates a place you have been, so a digital footprint indicates places you have been digitally. Anytime you search something on the internet, you leave a footprint. Christopher said you have to be careful online, because once it is online, it is there for good, unless you pay a lot of money to have someone come remove those digital footprints.

If you search something and then suddenly have an advertisement for that item pop up on your Facebook feed, that is part of that digital footprint. Anytime you "like" or "comment' on anything, that is suddenly part of that footprint as well. Christopher said it was important to keep this in mind for future social media posts, because once that post is there, it isn't going to leave, so this can hurt or help a person in future jobs or other opportunities. He advised people to just be smart when searching online.
