3 places your kids will love when it's cold outside

Brrrr! It can be a bit frosty in November, and sometimes it’s too cold to take the kids outside for long. What’s a parent to do? KidsOutAndAbout.com, a site which features family-friendly activities from Ogden to Provo, has lots of options for you to consider. Here are a few to get you started:

  1. Storybrook Play Cafe and Boutique.

In addition to the play areas, cafe, and boutique, Storybrook offers fun parties for the holidays plus special attention for birthday parties. Located at 1538 East 3300 South in Salt Lake City, the play cafe is open Monday thru Friday, 9am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 1 pm. It’s closed for private parties and events on Saturday afternoons and Sunday. Entry fee is $6 per child (6 months to 12 years) and $3 after 3 pm. Adults are free. You can also buy memberships to save money on frequent visits.
  2. The Train Shoppe

A retail store with family and kid attractions. As a family, explore the indoor wild west town. Take an indoor train ride or go on an interactive dark ride as you explore a mine. There are also kids’ rides (for ages 8 and under), featuring a carousel, a conestoga wagon, and a Model T car. The Train Shoppe also features 10 interactive trains. For a token, you control the speed, headlight, horn, and bell for two minutes. The Train Shoppe is located at 2964 South State Street in Salt Lake City. The rides are open Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays, and Saturdays 10 am to 7 pm. The shoppe is open Monday thru Saturday during those hours. Click here to visit their website and see pricing information.
  3. Jungle Jim’s Playland

They offer six carnival rides, bouncy houses, a toddler area, a full café, and a new arcade. Guests enjoy free wifi. Located in Midvale at 739 East Fort Union Blvd, Jungle Jim’s is open Mondays thru Thursdays, 11 am to 9 pm; Fridays 11 am to 10 pm; Saturdays 10 am to 10 pm; Sundays 11 am to 8 pm. There’s no charge for parents, and it’s $10 per child one year and older. On Tuesdays, admission is only $2. Visit junglejimsutah.com for more information.
