There will be four new homeless shelters in the Salt Lake Valley.
The locations are:
-648 West, 100 South.
-171 East, 700 South
-275 West High Avenue
-653 East Simpson Avenue
Deputy Chief of Staff for Salt Lake City David Litvack says the reaction the new homeless shelter locations have been mixed.
He says he understands those who live and work near the new sites have concerns on what the area will be like in the future when the locations are complete.
Litvack, Salt Lake City and business owners in and around the new sites have talked about the potential issues and how to resolve them.
Officials say they do not want another situation, similar to the Rio Grande area.
They say the new model of the facilities are smaller and will serve to specific populations to minimize the impact on surround businesses and communities.
If you want to throw in your opinion on the issue, there will be a workshop at the Public Safety Building (475 South, 300 East) on January 11th from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
There will also be another one on January 18th from 6-8 p.m.
