PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A woman standing on a downtown sidewalk with three of her friends Monday evening was struck and killed by a truck moments after it was T-boned by another vehicle.

The accident happened at 4:50 p.m. at 900 West Center Street in Provo.

Police say a Ford pick-up truck was traveling east on Center Street when the driver made a left turn directly in front of a Grand Cherokee traveling westbound.

The Cherokee slammed into the Ford pick-up, police say, propelling the truck directly toward 49-year-old Madeline Charrington and her friends.

The Provo woman's friends were able to move quickly from the path of the runaway truck, but police say Charrington was hit head-on.

Paramedics started CPR immediately, but police say Charrington was pronounced dead at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

Police tell ABC 4 News both drivers were also transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. There is no word yet on possible citations.
