Warrant issued for child's mother

WEST VALLEY CITY Utah (ABC 4 News) - A mother once accused of kidnapping her daughter from a school failed to show up for her trial.
WEST VALLEY CITY Utah (ABC 4 News) - A woman who triggered an amber alert last year is now a wanted person.

Athena Venus Barker failed to show up for her trial Wedneday but the judge held it without her.

The justice court judge didn't rule on the evidence but issued a warrant for her release.

One Barker is arrested and brought before the judge she can present evidence or listen to his verdict.

Meanwhile Michael Bonner, Aleya's father testified that he was given custody of his daughter. He also testified that Barker had visitation days.

But on the day in question Bonner says Barker didn't have permission.

Aleya's school teacher testified that they were walking to the lunchroom when a woman grabbed Aleya and kept walking.

She testified the woman wouldn't stop and they left the school running. She called police.

Barker appears to be an extreme believer in personnel rights. She once told ABC 4 News that there is no law that prevents her from having her child.
The judge issued a $5,000 cash bail for her arrest.
