The note was simple: 1) Hijack Plane 2) Kill Obama. Hill made sure the note was hanging out of Larry Brett Hall's suitcase so that he would find it before entering airport security for his flight to Tucson, Arizona August 22.
TSA screener Scott Hyde found the note. He shared it with his supervisor who eventually notified the Federal Bureau of Investigations. Hill told agents he wrote the letter as a practical joke and placed it in the case partially sticking out so that his coworkers would see it.
ABC 4 has learned Hill and Hall are civilian employees at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. The two men are coworkers and the note was put into Hall's luggage at the air force base.
"I think that was very foolish. I think it was down right stupid," said James Young from Lehi, Utah.
"It's a difficult job. Having said that I think that maybe sometimes we do overreact," said Cindy Madsen from Provo, Utah.
Hall makes his first court appearance in federal court May 30.
