Utah parents and their kids got a chance to learn how to stay safe. If statistics are any indication, there can never be too many reminders.

Every year in Salt Lake County, more than 16,000 kids are treated in emergency departments for preventable injuries, according to the Safe Kids Fair press release. More than 300 of those are serious enough to be hospitalized.

Utah families browsed more than 100 safety-themed booths and participated in activities about fire and police safety and one mom told ABC 4 her kids learned a lot about safety around the home.

“My kids, the most impressive thing for them they were talking about window screens and not leaning on them, said Robin Romer.

Just in time for the warmer weather, 200 kids in Utah now have brand new bike helmets that given away free at the fair.
