WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A mother and her son are behind bars after a short police chase in West Valley City.

It ended near 4100 South and 3100 West.

Police say they tried to pull a car for a minor traffic stop, but the driver took off.

Officers chased the car until they entered a cul-de-sac.  That's when the driver rammed a cop car, then both the driver and passenger got out of the car and ran from the accident.

Police dogs were brought in and were able to locate Mindy and Devin Tate.  Devin was bitten by one of the dogs, but suffered only minor injuries.

Both Mindy and Devin have been booked into jail for assaulting a police officer, fleeing, possessing a stolen vehicle, among other charges.
