Trevor Lewis brings Stanley Cup to Utah

WEST VALLEY, Utah (ABC 4 Sports) - Los Angeles Kings forward Trevor Lewis shared the Stanley Cup with his home state fans.
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Sports) - Every player on the NHL champion Los Angeles Kings gets to spend 24 hours with the most famous trophy in all of sports, the Stanley Cup. Utah's Trevor Lewis wanted to share his day with the fans.

"It's awesome to see all the support I got," said Lewis, a former Brighton High star. "I didn't think it would be this big. I'm happy I can share it with Salt Lake for a little bit."

Lewis, who scored two goals in the Kings championship clinching victory over the New Jersey Devils, is the only man from Utah ever to win the Stanley Cup. He says being part of Utah history hasn't really sunk in yet.

"I don't know if it will ever sink in," he said. "My name is not on there yet, so I haven't seen it. But to get [the Cup] this morning was a very special feeling."

Roughly 6,500 fans showed up at the Maverik Center to get a glimpse of the Stanley Cup, and needless to say, they were blown away.

"It was amazing," said Tristan Slot, a devoted Trevor Lewis fan. "I was like, 'Oh my gosh, it's the Cup.' This is the best thing ever in my life."

"It's so great that he decided to bring it back home," said Bob Westbrook. "You certainly don't get to see the Stanley Cup everyday."

Lewis himself knows how big it is for kids to see the Cup in person.

"I did it when I was young," said Lewis, who refused to touch the Cup as a kid for fear of bringing bad luck. "It's a pretty cool thing to do and it meant a lot to me."

What a journey it has been for Trevor Lewis, who is still basking in the glow of the Kings first ever NHL championship.

"It's just been a dream come true," he said. "You can't ask for anything better than that. To hoist it and have my family and friends be there, it was unbelievable."
