Tank explosion victim names revealed

MYTON, Utah (ABC 4 News) - One person is dead and another injured after a tank explosion at a well site south of Myton.

According to the a Uintah County Sheriff’s Department news release, the man killed is 28-year-old Tyson Boren of Neola, Utah. The man who was transported to the Uintah Basin Medical Center in injuries is 32-year-old Rusty Harris.

Boren worked for Boren Construction and was a contract welder for Newfield Exploration. Harris is an employee of Newfield.

A third person at the scene during the explosion was unharmed.

The news release states, the explosion occurred as work was performed on a 400 barrel tank.

Police tell us it happened just after 8:30 PM on Tuesday, with emergency responders from Uintah and Duchesne County responding.

Investigators believe work was being done on the tank when the incident occurred.

Three people were at the mine site when the explosion happened. One man was killed and another transported to Uintah Basin Medical Center for treatment. The third man did not suffer any injuries.

The Uintah County Sheriff's Department, the state fire marshal, and OSHA will be conducting an investigation into the explosion.
