SPANISH FORK, Utah (AP) - The city of Spanish Fork has named a veteran of its police department as its new police chief.

City officials chose Steve Adams as the new chief to replace former Chief Dee Rosenbaum, who was fired in March amid a shoplifting investigation.

The Daily Herald reports this week that the city chose Adams from 25 applicants around the country.

Adams has worked in Spanish Fork since 1988. He became a sergeant in 1991 and lieutenant in 2003.

He will supervise 30 full-time officers and will also manage the volunteer fire and ambulance departments.
