Police seeking victims of sex abuse

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A man currently jailed may have sexually molested children over the past two decades. That is what police claim.
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – Police suspect there may be many more victims of a man currently jailed for crimes against children.

William Estell is currently in jail and is facing four counts of felony charges involving sex abuse of a child.

But police believe there are many more victims out there.

“During this investigation we were able to identify some of the victims that are victims of sexual molestation from this individual but we believe there are more," says detective Rick Wall of the Salt Lake City police department.

According to court documents, Estell is accused of roaming the Jordan River where he encountered a 14-year old.

The case in which Estell is currently facing felony charges claims he “rough housed” with the boy and then “tackled” him to the ground and then “put his hands down his pants and touched his (private parts).”

Estell is currently sitting in the Salt Lake County Metro jail and is facing four felony counts of child sex abuse.

But police say during the investigation Estell confessed to having molested children for at least two decades.

“This case has gone on well over twenty years and so things change, people move and that sort of thing and that's where we're really asking for the public's help,” Wall says.

Police are asking the public if they’ve had an encounter with Estell to contact Salt Lake City police at 801-799-3000.
