Hearing is a priceless gift many of us take for granted.
It is a gift the Osmond Family knows the importance of first hand. When two of the original sons were hard of hearing Olive Osmond - the matriarch of the Osmond Family - dreamed of one day starting a program delivering the gift of hearing.
Her dream became a reality with the creation of the Olive Osmond Hearing Fund.
Shane Osmond, Executive Director of the Olive Osmond Hearing Fund, said, "The family realizes how important hearings are. There are so many kids who would benefit, but hearing aids are very expensive."
The fund works across the world and right here in Utah providing a way for thousands of men, women and children to hear. They work directly with audiologists who are donating their ability and time with the Osmond's fund.
Osmond said, "With the benefit of the fund partnering up with the audiologist, they provided the services and we provide the hearing aides."
Once the hearing aide is installed, the true beauty of this gift becomes a reality.
Dr. Tad Bergen who works with the fund explained, "That first little 'hey, hey, I can hear that person' is just a great benefit that a lot of us take for granted.">
This gift of hearing doesn't just help the person who was living in silence.
Dr. Bergen said, "It doesn't just affect that one person, it impacts everyone that person associates with."
To create these opportunities to provide hearing, the Olive Osmond Hearing Foundation needs you to help them help others.
Proceeds from the upcoming Youth Pioneer Pageant will provide nine hearing aides for people in need right here in Utah.
