Jazz president Randy Rigby released the following statement Wednesday morning:
"Media reports of Kevin O’Connor’s departure are inaccurate and he is not stepping down. He is fully engaged in Jazz preparations for draft season. The working relationship between Kevin and Dennis Lindsey is unchanged as both individuals provide valuable expertise, knowledge and perspective toward building a championship-caliber team. Kevin will be a member of the Jazz family for a long time. No further comment is needed."
Earlier this morning, Jazz CEO Greg Miller sent out a tweet saying, "Sources very close to the Utah Jazz (me) verify that Kevin O'Connor is not stepping down as EVP of Basketball Operations."
A report on KUTV Tuesday night stated that the 65-year-old O'Connor, who has been with the Jazz for 14 seasons, will relinquish most of his duties with the team to general manager Dennis Lindsey and become a consultant.
Lindsey took over for O'Connor as general manager in August of 2012, when O'Connor decided to step down from the day-to-day operations of the team.
O'Connor has been with the Jazz since 1999.
