SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Republican Mike Lee says "There's not a moment to waste" now that he has been selected by Utah voters to replace GOP U.S. Sen. Bob Bennett on Tuesday.

Lee, who hasn't won an election since he served as Brigham Young University's student body president in the 1990s, says he's very excited by the victory.

He says one of his top priorities will be to pass a balanced budget amendment, saying while such measures have failed in the past, there's momentum to do so now.

In conceding, Democratic restaurateur Sam Granato said "In Utah, it was an unwinnable race for a Democrat."
