SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (AP) - A 20-year-old man accused of stealing a South Salt Lake police car and injuring three people when he crashed it is now behind bars.

Ryan Troy Cooke was booked in the Salt Lake County jail Monday on suspicion of theft, DUI, driving on a suspended license, obstruction of justice and fleeing.

South Salt Lake police spokesman Gary Keller says an officer was walking to his cruiser at a gas station parking lot about 3 a.m. Sunday when he used a keyless remote to unlock the door.

Keller says a man jumped into the vehicle and was able to drive off because keys were in the ignition.

Police say Cooke and three people were injured when the cruiser crashed into two cars at an intersection.
