Jeanine said, "I was sitting out here with my granddaughter and she said look at all of those bees going into the corner, you must have a bees nest."
Fortunately, Jeanine did not go exploring in her shed to find out. She called Alterra pest control to have them look.
When the bee removal contractor took a look, he told Jeanine, "I went into your shed and you have a humongous nest. I need to come back in a bee suit."
The contractor brought Alterra’s Director of Entomology and Technical Services along, and the nest they removed was two to three years old, and had up to ten thousand yellow jackets living inside. Yellow jackets very aggressive, yet miraculously, Jeanine never was stung even though she frequently went in and out of the shed.
Jeanine commented, "You would look all over the yard and they'd be everywhere, but I never was stung."
She must be the hornet whisperer, if not the real queen. Jeanine's grand kids plan to use parts of the nest for future show and tells at school.
