SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A former legislative leader and one-time congressional candidate is being appointed to the Dixie State College Board of Trustees.

Gov. Gary Herbert says David Clark will join the board after successfully representing southern Utah in the Legislature for more than a decade.

Clark is a former Speaker of the Utah House. He resigned from the Legislature in December to run for the 2nd Congressional District.

Clark was defeated in the congressional race by Chris Stewart at the state Republican convention last month.

Clark is a regional vice president for Zions Bank. He lives in Santa Clara, Utah, which is near St. George-based Dixie State College.
