DABC remains a work in progress

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - July DABC Commission meeting shows some issues which may still need to be addressed.
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A shortage of liquor licenses for clubs, two DABC commissioners who still haven't been appointed and another audit which may not be that pretty.

Even after a special legislative session to address some key issues, the DABC remains a work in progress.

Let's start with liquor licenses for clubs.

Not only aren't any available, but none have been...well… seemingly almost since the time alcohol was invented.

Now, starting in September, a few licenses will be available.

But at Tuesday's meeting, there were more than 20 club applicants listed.

Next, there are the 2 new DABC commissioners the legislature added to the existing five.

This was supposed to make the work, uh, flow more freely.

But the governor hasn't appointed the two new ones yet.

And, yes, Tuesday, ABC 4 heard some grumbling about that.

Finally, in the fall, another long awaited DABC audit is expected to be released.

As ABC 4 has reported, it may also be highly critical of the way the DABC has been run.
