TOOELE COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Four adults survived a violent Sunday morning rollover crash in Tooele County on Pony Express Road about 16 miles southwest of the Dugway Proving Ground and then waited five hours for rescue.

The victims were on a camping trip, according to Tooele County Sheriff's Deputy Keith Borders.

The 22-year-old driver accelerated to between 60 and 70-miles-per-hour on a gravel packed road sometime after midnight when he lost control and over corrected rolling the car once, Borders says the victim who was in the front passenger seat told him.

Two people were ejected. No one was wearing a seat belt.

One of the men could not get a cell phone signal. He walked one mile west and then one mile east, but failed to get a signal. He walked back to the truck. The couples huddled into the two sleeping bags inside the truck and waited in low 50 degree temperatures.

Sometime around 6:00 a.m. a driver found the victims and called for help.

Borders was one of the first responders. "It was actually pretty remarkable because the damage to the vehicle, it seemed, was pretty significant to endure through five hours of all the pain and injury that they had, but they seemed in pretty fair condition, a little banged up, but in fair condition," he continued.

The victims are from Salt Lake City, Boarders said. They consist of two couples. They are 18, 19, 20 and 22-years-old.

All of the victims could talk, but the 22-year-old man could only mumble.

Two of the victim's were flown to the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray. A female victim was flown to the University of Utah Hospital. One man was driven to Mountain West Medical Center in Tooele.

One crash victim was released from IMC and one was released from Mountain West Medical Center in Tooele.
