SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – Many calls made to 9-1-1 in Utah County are delayed because of computer system redundancies.

Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams wants to move to a single Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, so all dispatch centers will have the same, valley-wide information.

This means that once it is implemented all departments including police, fire, and ambulance, will be able to see all the resources deployed and deployable no matter which dispatch center receives the 9-1-1 call.

McAdams said the County Council has approved his request to contribute $1.3 million toward the cost need to standardize the technology platform. McAdams plans to work with all the mayors in the county to ensure the transition to benefits each jurisdiction’s needs.
