LEHI, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – Many kids have high hopes that hoops will be in their future. That's why some are at camp learning from former BYU standout and NBA player, Travis Hansen, among others.

"We have local BYU and Utah college basketball players, we have pro players and they just love spending time with the kids teaching them the game of basketball," says Hansen.

Those lessons go beyond the game at this camp. All proceeds go to Hansen's Little Heroes Foundation, but the contributions go beyond the money.

During the camp participants take a time out to put together school and hygiene kits.

"So they put together these kits and we deliver it to local kids in need," says Hansen.

Local business, All About Socks is also getting into the game with a donation of 150 socks.

"I think it's part of that pay if forward. You just give what you can, when you can," says Rorie Tafoya.

Shooting to meet a big need close to home.

"I'm shocked by how much need there is even in our own little community,” says Hansen.
