911 tapes of shocking call from Orem man charged with murder

OREM, Utah (ABC 4 Utah)- A case that’s shocked a community takes an interesting turn Monday. An Orem man charged with the murder of his wife makes his first court appearance.

For the first time, we the 911 tapes that detail that frantic day that Conrad Truman says he found his wife dead. This case has taken a lot of twists and turns.

On Monday, Conrad Truman who waited eleven months appeared in court. It’s hard to believe the solemn man was part of hysteria in a quiet neighborhood in Orem.

Dispatcher, “I’m sorry, I can’t understand you?”

Most of Conrad Truman’s emergency call was much like that…inaudible. But the operator was able to get some information from the frantic man about what was going on.

“She came out of the shower. I heard a pop and there's blood,” said Conrad Truman.

Truman said he found his wife lying naked on the floor. At first, he says it was a drive-by shooting and they he told police she committed suicide.

Dispatcher: "She has a gunshot wound to her head is that correct?"
INAUDIBLE.

Dispatcher: “Who is this, who am I speaking to
Hello, hello?”

"My name is Conrad. She's choking,” said Truman.

Dispatcher: "she's choking. Okay. Does she have a gunshot wound?

The dispatcher remains on the line with Truman until officers arrive.

Dispatcher: “Are you able to go outside?”

Truman: “Yes.”

Dispatcher: “Go outside I should have an officer there.”

Those officers say Truman was confrontational and uncooperative. Now, Truman calmly continues to plead his innocence. Truman maintains his innocence arguing that his wife killed herself. But prosecutors say Truman killer his wife for $800,000 worth of insurance money.
