Man Dies After Being Hit By SUV, Frontrunner Train

PROVO (ABC 4 News) - A Utah County man died early Friday morning after he was knocked off his bicycle by an SUV and then hit by a Frontrunner commuter train, authorities said.

Douglas Crow, 69, of Provo, was riding his bicycle near 600 South and 700 West in Provo when officials say he was struck by a Cadillac SUV, which was making a left turn. Crow was knocked off the bicycle and landed on the train tracks. Momentarily dazed, Crow failed to get off the tracks before the Frontrunner came through, officials said.

Police said the female driver of the SUV immediately pulled over, but was unable to help the victim in time. Emergency workers performed CPR and rushed Crow to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officials said Crow -- a custodian at Brigham Young University -- died from severe head injuries.

It wasn't immediately clear, however, how long Crow was on the tracks before the train arrived or why the female driver struck him in the first place.

Frontrunner service was temporarily halted after the accident, but has since resumed.
