Jack Gallivan, a long time publisher at the Salt Lake Tribune, died Tuesday of natural causes.
Gallivan is well known for his roles in bringing the Utah Jazz and the 2002 Winter Olympics to Salt Lake City.
He also helped raise tourism in the state, and put some of the homeless population in Utah, into their own homes.
The downtown Gallivan Center also was named in his honor.
Jack Gallivan was 97 years old.
