The Weber Basin Water Conservancy District is asking homeowners in Davis, Weber, Morgan and Summit counties to water their lawns just twice a week.
"I wouldn't have that big of a problem if my grass turns a little brown as long as you can keep it from dying out completely," said Davis County Homeowner, Tom Johnson.
The concern is the snow pack level across much of Utah. For the northern regions it's about 70 percent of normal and while that's not a crisis it is a concern.
There is not threat to drinking water. This restriction is preparation for what could be another dry year.
The voluntary water restrictions continue through the end of May.
