Thanks to a new program by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, it's now possible to special order almost any type of booze you want.
While there may be thousands of bottles in a typical DABC store, you might not always find what you want, but now, there's a high-tech solution to this problem.
If there's a bottle of booze you would like and you can't find it a state liquor store - you can now order it on the DABC website.
Tom Zdunich of the DABC says, "There's always a customer out there that wants something we don't currently list in the state and this program allows for that product to be sold to that customer."
And it’s pretty simple to do.
Just get on the DABC’s website, go to the order products section, then plug in the info about who you are and what you want.
The DABC will then order it, ship it and let you know when its here.
This doesn't mean you can join an out-of-state wine club or have the booze shipped directly to your home, but it does mean Utah may not be quite as dry or restrictive as you might think.
One customer, Holly Murdoch, says "I like that because you can try varieties that you've tried out of state that we can't get here."
Or as Zdunich told ABC 4, "This is Utah's answer to direct shipments that some of the other states allow."
So, how much will these special on line orders cost and how long will they take?
Well, they’ll take about a month and cost about the same as in the store, plus, they'll ship it to the DABC outlet of your choice.
