Alpine, Utah (ABC 4 Utah)- Search and rescue crews responded to a call in American Fork Canyon 8:30 a.m. Monday.
The Utah County Sheriff's Office says two male victims ages 24 and 28 were flying a training helicopter when it went down near Silver Lake just a few miles northeast of Tibble Fork Reservoir.

The pilot reported, during the 911 call, that they were flying near the ground when a wind gust or current appeared to suck the helicopter toward the ground. As a result, the aircraft crashed and rolled.

Utah County Sheriff’s Office says the pilot, Gergory Walther, 28 of West Valley, is also an instructor for Upper Limit Aviation. His passenger, Terrance "Bud" Oakley, of Sandy, is a student and they were most likely flying to the Salt Lake airport when the crash happened.

Search and rescue crews landed in a nearby meadow and hiked up to the injured victims.
