WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – A West Valley family is dealing with a frightening situation Thursday. Their three year old daughter fell playing on a slide, got hurt, and went into cardiac arrest.

A West Valley neighborhood is in shock.

"It's terrible," said Gary Sampson, neighbor.

"It's just too bad," said Ruth Moulton, neighbor.

"It's pretty sad, I don't know what the parents are going through," said Stephanie Maldonedo, neighbor.

Emergency responders said a three year old girl fell playing on a slide in the backyard of her home off 30th South and 40th West. Responders aren't sure how she fell, but she was severely hurt.

"When the crews got there they found the mother doing CPR on the child they began advanced life support, she was in pretty rough shape," said Bob Fitzgerald, West Valley City Fire Marshall.

Responders airlifted her to Primary Children's Medical Center in extreme critical condition for cardiac arrest.

"You look away, step in for a minute, all you have to do is fall land the wrong way, and you're whole life can be turned upside down," Sampson said.

Investigators combed over the home to confirm there was no foul play, meanwhile several neighbors are hoping the worst is over.

"I think it's terrible what happened," Moulton.

"I hope that little girl makes it through and everything is okay," Maldonedo said.
