Rockport 5 fire grows to 2,000 acres, 25% contained

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - Wildfires in Summit County, sparked by a lightning strike and that destroyed 13 homes Tuesday has grown to 2,000 acres.
SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - Wildfires in Summit County, that destroyed 13 homes, have grown to 2,000 acres Wednesday. 

Due to shifting winds, the fire quickly spread forcing the evacuations of three neighborhoods: Rockport Estates, Rockport Ranches, Bridge Hollow and Promontory. 

Twelve homes were lost Tuesday and one home burned in the over night hours. 

As of Wednesday afternoon, the fire was 25% contained. Firefighting resources include handcrews, structural engines, wildland engines, helicopters, bulldozers and air support. Efforts are being focused on securing the perimeter closest to homes.

Evacuation orders will remain in effect through Thursday.
