At Larry Miller Toyota in Murray they've been inundated with cars needing work done after hitting a pot hole.
"Oh at least 30 to 50 just for the pot hole repairs,” explained the Assistant Maintenance Manager KC Gardner, and that's just within the last month.
Braxton Southwick says no matter what the size of the pothole drivers should try their best to avoid them.
“In the car you don't feel anything but a bump, but it does so much damage,” said Southwick.
Potholes might not do that much damage to big trucks or 4-wheel drive vehicles, but the smaller cars are very susceptible to damage and that damage can be very costly.
Southwick said, “The lower control arms, your ball joints. These are the things we see break on the smaller cars.”
Aside from plowing and salting streets UDOT has also been spending a lot of time this winter repairing potholes.
UDOT Spokesperson John Gleason said, “Potholes can happen fast. In the morning you can have just a crack and by the time the afternoon commute hits you could be looking at a full-fledged pothole.”
Because they pop up so quickly UDOT asks that the public notify them immediately if they see a dangerous pothole on a Utah highway. www.udot.utah.gov
