Great grandmother worried about missing South Jordan girl

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (ABC4 News) – Kassidy Kay Nelson is at the center of a family struggle and that may be why she is missing.
SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (ABC4 News) – Kassidy Kay Nelson is at the center of a family struggle and that may be why she is missing.

The 6-year-old girl was last seen leaving her great grandparent’s home in South Jordan Wednesday night.

Police believe Kassidy is with her biological mother, Megan Boynton. Boynton does not have legal custody of the girl.

Kassidy’s great grandmother, LaFaye Hamilton, said the girl went to the front door because their dog was barking.

“She just opened the door and she was gone,” Hamilton said.

Police believe Boynton motioned for Kassidy to leave with her and the girl obeyed. Officials are concerned about Kassidy’s wellbeing because Boynton does not own a home or means of providing for the girl.

“She hasn’t provided for her or found a way to take care of her,” Hamilton said.

As of Thursday night, police had no new leads on the girl. Hamilton worried about where her great granddaughter would sleep.

Police said Boynton does not have a home and drifts through hotels throughout the valley. She is likely traveling with her boyfriend Elliott Sunshine Proctor in a dark colored Chevy Silverado truck.

Hamilton hoped the public would offer information on where Kassidy is.

“Just get home safe,” she said to Kassidy. “Grandma and grandpa love you very much.”
