Flyboard: surf the sky like Ironman

WILLARD BAY, Utah (ABC4Utah) - Flyboarding is the newest extreme water sport in Utah, so we sent out two of our ABC4Utah Anchors to give it a try!

But first, what is a flyboard? Basically you are like Ironman, walking on water and it's even cooler than it looks. You may not have heard of it yet, because it was just invented a few years ago, but based on the millions of hits on Youtube this sport is about to blow up.

Thom Hall, Rocky Mountain Flyboard owner, told ABC4Utah, "It started out just getting a board and thinking it was the coolest thing I've ever seen."

Hall jumped all over this golden opportunity to not only get into this booming business, but to do some flying too.

Hall said, "It's the most awesome feeling to be standing on a tower of water, I absolutely love it."

Flyboarding takes the propulsion of a WaveRunner, runs it through a fire hose, and out the bottom of a modified board, flying you into the air.

As difficult as it looks, people pick it up very quickly.

Hall said, "It's hard to describe, you just have to try it."

So we did!

ABC4Utah's Emily Clark and Curtis Ray both tried it out. There were some good moments, but plenty of falls as well. In the end both agreed: it was an awesome experience, literally walking on water thanks to the Flyboard.

Do you want to take a ride? Rocky Mountain Flyboard will be operating rental locations out of Jordanelle and Deer Creek. Information can be found HERE.
