A new study published in the Journal of Sports Medicine now gives us proof, kids who are fit get better grades.
Canyons School District Nurse Stacy Drew said, "The more exercise you get the better your brain will function."
Drew works with kids in the Canyons School District every day. She said she can see the impact exercise makes in students and now this study backs up the obvious.
Drew said, "The whole development of the human brain revolves around good nutrition, physical activity and of course sleep plays a great role in that as well."
Drew advises kids should be doing some sort of exercise every day and try to divide it evenly between cardio and resistance training.
Schools are doing their part, but parents have to be involved.
Drew said, "It's important for the parents to be involved too."
