Chase leads to standoff, I-15 closure in S. Utah

TOCQUERVILLE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - The Utah Highway patrols says a chase involving a suspect refused to yield to an officer and led to a stand off with two children being held hostage.
TOCQUERVILLE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - The Utah Highway patrols says a chase involving a suspect refused to yield to an officer and led to a hostage situation that closed Interstate 15 near Tocquerville on Monday.

The Utah Department of Public Safety says the vehicle pursuit originated on State Road 17 near the Toquerville city cemetery.

A chase ensued until the driver stopped on southbound I-15 at milepost 17.

UHP troopers say the freeway was closed in both directions between mileposts 16 to 27 as the standoff continued.

UHP Public Information Officer Todd Johnson said two children are in the car and are being held hostage.
